Frequently
asked questions
Is
Accent a new club?
We have been in existence
since about 1992 so we are well established in the area.
How
much does it cost to join?
We have a membership
fee which is currently £12 a year which goes towards the postage
costs in sending out programmes etc
How
do I know if it is what I am looking for?
You don't! So we would
suggest that you come along to a drinks evening and perhaps a meal
and meet us and then you can decide. You will be under no pressure
to join - because we are a members group we are not seeking to make
a profit or run a business. We just need to cover our costs.
Will
I find a partner?
You could - but that
is not why we exist. Some of our members have found a partner through
the group but most have not. We enjoy being able to go out as friends
to different restaurants and being able to relax.
If I
find a partner will I have to leave the group?
Not at all - in fact
some members meet someone and leave the group for a while to concentrate
on their new social life. But if things don't work out (as sometimes
happens) then they come back and go out with us again.
I am
already a member of another group can I still join?
Of course. Many of our
members are members of other groups and even bring along new members
they have met there.
What
age ranges will I find in the club?
We are predominantly
in our 50's. You aren't excluded if you are younger or older but
as a guide you won't find as many members in your age range if you
are either younger or older.
I am
nervous about joining a new group. How can you help?
Firstly you need to remember
that we have all been there!! It can be very daunting we know to
come along to find new friends. Contact us via the email and give
us a contact number then we can call first for a chat and we can
talk about how you can come along and be made welcome. We want to
help.
Do you
have even numbers of men and women at your events?
As we said earlier we
are not a dating agency so we don't worry about even numbers. We
are friends who meet up for a meal so sometimes the balance may
not be equal - in fact it rarely is - but for most of us that just
isn't a problem.
